I Wanted It To Be You.

A Losing Battle

Things were amazing in the beginning,
I saw my future in your eyes, and I believe that you saw yours in mine,
All the more reason to place my eggs in one basket..
The way that you made me feel..
I did backflips in my daydreams as I fantasized of you and I,
Sunlight and laughter,
The dark skies, and candlelit dinners followed by movie nights and gentle kisses,
Spontaneous lunch breaks together at the peak of our days,
Your hand in mine,
My head resting on your thighs as I look up to you in awe and think to myself,
About how I don’t want anyone else..
The sound of your voice was always like music to my ears,
Your scent was one that I had become quite familiar with,
So sweet, I could smell as you left the room,
Deeply inhaling, and following you into the next for another hit,
Grabbing you, holding you close while I sniff your neck,
You throw yourself back in laughter, and I join you..
It seemed that we couldn’t get enough of each other,
Years of us supporting one another, preparing for what’s to come,
Drawing boards and posters of our wedding plans plastered inside of my head,
Which is why now it’s so hard to believe that we’ve reached this point in our life..
Arguments have become more frequent as our perspectives have changed among the years..
We make up, and then we’re right back to where we were..
Our communication styles are really telling at this time,
We speak much more…
